PRESS RELEASE: Megan Lipke at 215 College Gallery in Burlington

Megan Lipke: NEW PAINTINGS
FAITH AND ERROR
DECEMBER 3 , 2010– JANUARY 2, 2011

Opening Reception December 3, 5-8
Informal Gallery Talk at 5:30 PM

Megan Lipke makes paintings and works on paper that are described in New York’s Village Voice as "tough, surreal and narrative". Her abstract images are inspired by the topography of the body and the environment. The shapes that emerge within the free-floating worlds of her paintings are suggestive without being literal. Her evocative use of line and atmospheric color washes create spatial depths that are at once mysterious and compelling.

Megan Lipke received a BA in Art from the University of Vermont and an MFA in Painting from Cornell. Her solo shows in New York have been reviewed in Art in America, The New York Times and The Village Voice. Lipke has been granted residences and fellowships from the Constance Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts, Saint Michael's College and the Vermont Studio Center. She is exhibiting concurrently at the Carrie Haddad Gallery in Hudson, New York.
