Liza Cannon is a new Burlington artist exploring old mediums – in particular the long-spanning traditional methods used in printmaking and bookmaking. She has studied traditional etching and block printing practices in Burlington as well as in Brittany, France, and is now taking the old methods and subjects and turning them on their head. Her pieces are whimsical and often macabre combinations of incongruous objects and figures.
Liza will be showing her prints for the month of March at the North End Studio Gallery, a participating venue with the First Friday Art Walk. Stop by during the Art Walk on Friday, March 4th, 5-8pm, or call ahead at the number below. The NES Gallery, dedicated to exhibiting local artists, will soon be in the process of expanding. If you are interested in showing here, contact Ben Aleshire, Event Coordinator, North End Studio, 294 N. Winooski Ave., Burlington, VT, www.vpal.typepad.com, (802) 863-6713.
