Burlington, Vermont-based artist Avery McIntosh explores the process of creation and destruction in her paintings and prints. Her multi-layered works focus on the investigation of manipulating materials to create a piece. Influenced by painters from the New York School, such as Philip Guston, it might be said that the language used in McIntosh’s work stems from a place in between direct representation and abstract expressionism. Avery, a recent graduate of The University of Vermont, Has exhibited her paintings regularly in the Burlington area over the last few years.
