RUTLAND: Chaffee's "Annual Full House" Features 5 Local Artists

The Full House Exhibit is an annual show of selected juried members of the Chaffee Art Center. Each artist is allotted one gallery within the building to feature a complete body of work. The five artists selected for featured exhibits include: Christine Holzchuh, Mareva Millarc, Kitty O'Hara, Meta Strick, Chikako Suginome

Exhibit runs: August 24 through September 29.

Christine Holzschuh, a painter from Mendon,Vt., will exhibit 32 minature paintings, all under 9"x9." She has two groups of work on exhibit: "Gallery Viewers" tells the story of how we look at art, and "Memories" is a snapshot of places, experiences, sounds and tastes that help us recall a feeling.

Kitty O'Hara (Woodstock, Vt.) will be exhibiting a group of paintings, which offer a reflection of beauty in everyday life.

Mareva Millarc (Middletown Springs, Vt.) will be exhibiting her abstract expressionist paintings. The passion the artist experiences in the creation of each piece is conveyed in her work.

Meta Strick (Sheldon, Vt.) is a mixed media artist Her work portrays images of women of indeterminate ages, engaged in - or connected to - aspects of exploration. Primarily fabricated of carved and painted wood, Strick's pieces also make use of found objects and off-beat elements.

Chikako Suginome (Mount Holly, Vt.) will exhibit contemporary artwork, including sculpture, influenced by Japanese traditional art Kakejiku (black-ink scrolls) and Ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement).

Featured artists are selected each year in March by the Chaffee Art Center Art Committee for a featured show in the following year. Artists interested in being featured at the Chaffee Art Center may find out more information about applying for juried membership online at The Chaffee Art Center.
