PRESS RELEASE: Bill Ramage at Gallery in-the-Field in Brandon
Fran Bull, director of Gallery in-the-Field, is pleased to announce an encore season which will commence on May 6th with an installation by artist Bill Ramage entitled: A Centripetal Photo Project: an Installation : the GITF Piece, the Men’s Group. Ramage's work will be on exhibit through June 30.
Bill Ramage, artist, faculty member and gallery curator at Castleton State College, has exhibited large-scale art installations nationwide for decades, along with striking wall size hyper-real self-portraits in graphite and biomorphic drawings worked in vivid colored pencil on canvas. All of these elements will be present in the current installation, whose central photographic image features members of the men’s group Ramage has been a part of for 16 years.
In his recent book, Seeing, on sale at Gallery in-the-Field, Ramage refers to the “miracle of seeing”: “This alchemical event, where light is turned into thought and the mind extends beyond the body to radiate consciousness out into the world is incredible to think about.” He speaks on this and on his artist’s process in a gallery talk at 6 pm on Friday, May 6. All are welcome. Admission to the gallery is free. Directions are available on the gallery’s website.
Gallery in-the-Field’s new hours for the 2011 Encore Season are Fridays through Sundays from 12 to 5 pm and by appointment. For further information contact gallery director Fran Bull at franbull@franbull.com, or info@galleryinthefield.com. Phone numbers are 802-558-8609 or 802-558-8609.
